Hotel Annema dominates the oldest settlement of municipality, in Old Monemvasia. Just a breath away from the sea and very close to the unique sandy beach of the area, it offers a view of endless blue seascape and the rock of Monemvasia.

The hotel is located a stone's throw from the sea, in the municipality’s oldest settlement, Old Monemvasia.

The Old Town of Monemvasia is a historic bay often mentioned by Pausanias and Venetians as well on their maps and documents. It is also referred as San Nicolo, since the bay was the basis of those arriving by sea for the purpose of besieging the historic rock of Monemvasia.

AVLAKI OR VLYCHADA

– Distance about 45 minutes north of the hotel.

– Excellent scenery with pebbles and sand at the edges of the beach. There is a canteen for snacks and iced drinks.

BALOGERI

– Distance from the hotel about 45 minutes.

– Secluded pebble beach. It is accessed by a path approximately 150 meters from where you park your vehicle. It is not organized.

PLYTRA

– Distance from the hotel about 35 minutes

– Organized beach with sand and very shallow waters. Ideal for families with small children.

BOZAS

– Distance from the hotel about 35 minutes

– Beach with sand, it is not organized. There is a tavern on the beach.

CHARACHIA

– Distance from the hotel about 35 minutes

– Organized beach with pebbles and crystal waters.

MAGGANOS - ROUND LAKE

– Distance from the hotel about 45 minutes

– With a sandy beach and clear blue waters. They are not organized.

SIGHTS

Church of Elkomenos Christos

- This nice church is dedicated to "Christ in Pain". It is located in the Castle of Monemvasia and it was built in the 13th century by Byzantine Emperor Andronicus.

Church of Agia Sofia

- The Byzantine church of Agia Sofia is located on the edge of a cliff and gives a gorgeous view to the sea. It was built in the 12th century by Emperor Andronicus. When Monemvasia was occupied by the Venetians, it became a Catholic cathedral and during the Turkish occupation, when their walls were painted with lime, it was used as a mosque.

Archaeological Museum

- The Archaeological Museum of Monemvasia is housed in a Muslim mosque opposite the church of Christ Elkomenos, inside the Castle of Monemvasia. The building was constructed in the 16th century by the Turks. At first, it was a mosque, then a public building, a prison, a coffee shop and today it hosts the archaeological collection.
